Anniversary in Doha

For our anniversary this year we took off to Doha, Qatar. Brad had taken his two personal days off work, and initially we were going to stay in Kuwait, but then we found super cheap tickets to Doha and decided to go there. Brad sister Ruth lives there as well so it great to see her, and have a place to stay and family to visit :) Plus it is much more relaxing to be away from home. We really just wanted to do nothing, so we went to a pool all four days and just swam. Not to mention that the heat was crazy and so there is no point in trying to do anything but swim! Here are few pictures from the time there, including my last post from the soccer game that we went and saw.

Walking from the torch hotel to the Villagio mall...
 The Old souk in Doha
Came across some traditional Yemeni music... they put on quite a show
 Camels just outside the souk.
"Amir honey" the middle jar of honey only costs approx. $250. No big deal right?
We spent 4 days laying around a pool, best way to spend the long weekend.

At the Sheraton pool and beach club.

We finally make it to a real game!

This past weekend we went to Doha, Qatar. Brad took two personal days at work, and we went for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. I will post another blog about our trip, but while we were there we FINALLY made it to a soccer game. I admit that I am not the biggest sports fanatic, but I do love watching a game from time to time. In the Gulf, soccer is big, and I have wanted to see a game during my time here. Given that FIFA 2022 is going to be in Doha, it was great to see a game there myself. Her are some pictures

Walking up to the stadium, with the Torch hotel in the background

Notice the "white" crowd. I know, I was surprised that no one was wearing jerseys!
The man in front of us was very much into the game... again as supportive as he was of his team, still no jersey or supporting color.

This little guy provided some additional entertainment...
Not a great close up, but here is the Emir (King) congratulating the team on their win of the game, and the win of the Emir Cup.
 Celebrating with fireworks
The entourage to pick-up the Emir.

cheers,
