Seeing the Sights??? Out to the desert

So we are on the last few weeks of being in Kuwait, only about 7 to go! We figured that we need to make sure that we see everything in Kuwait. For the most part we have seen it all! Really living here for two years... can't be that much more, well maybe just a few more things. Anyways, we have heard of Mutla Ridge and keep meaning to go there, so this past weekend we finally did. It is about 40kms outside of the city, and basically just a long ridge in the desert. Here are a few pics that we took :) Enjoy!

The ridge behind Brad... kinda hard to see with it being a dusty day
Having a yoga moment of course.
Kinda a dusty day so a bit hard to see. This is looking away from the ridge.
A very random wall... because why not have a wall in the middle of the desert?
Our cute little car that we will miss... but it has been so good to us.

And that's it!

Easter 2012 in ISRAEL!!!!

So for this years Spring Break we decided to go to Israel. And to our surprise spring break happened to fall over Easter. We decided that we wanted to take all the time that we needed in Jerusalem and not rush our time there, so we book our entire time there, except that we were going to do a day trip to Bethlehem. We were so glad that we didn't explore much beyond Jerusalem because it is a big city with lots to see and do. If you ever have the opportunity to go, GO! Our week was spent with a LOT of walking around and seeing the sights. Jerusalem has a very new and modern European feel to it in some areas, and then of course the old historical side as well. So much to see and do all in such a small area. On our last day we went to Bethlehem, which is in Palestine. It was crazy to see how the West Bank is actually bordered off from Israel, and of course is wonderful to see where Jesus was born.

Without writing too much here are some pictures...

It was slightly busy day... during Passover

Visiting Jerusalem during Easter and Passover is very busy, we had to fight through crowds of people to walk around the city.

Such an amazing city to visit, I am still processing all the places that we saw. Such history and significance, a truly wonderful experience.

7 Wonders of the World - slowly getting there

I love to travel! Not a big surprise I guess. If you have read more than one of my posts, you would also know that I like to travel, and love to talk about it. Myself and Brad just finished watching the TV series Idiot Abroad. If you haven't seen it, Watch it! I loved it, and I found the guy funny, for the most part anyways. To top it off, I loved watching all the places that the guy went, and all the crazy stuff that he got to do. The first season featured all the 7 wonders of the world. Now the 7 wonder is a highly debated issues, and there are many different versions of the wonders. For this, I am sticking with the new 7 wonders, and maybe I will do something on the 7 natural, or 7 ancient, or 7 underwater wonders ... you get the point. Okay, the 7 new wonders are as follows

Great Wall of China, Petra (Jordan), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil), Machu Picchu (Peru), Chichen Itza (Mexico), Colosseum (Italy), Taj Mahal (India), and the honorary candidate Great Pyramid of Giza (Egypt)

I have yet to go to the Great Wall of China, hopefully I will see it one of these days (on my bucket list)

Here we are at Petra in 2011. This was our first time here, and rumor has it, it won't be our last time (more on that at a later time)

Here I am at Christ the Redeemer back in 2009. Rio is such an amazing city

Next up: Machu Picchu. I have never been here, but would LOVE to make it here sometime soon

Chichen Itza, again I have not been here before. One day, I am sure that I will make it. Maybe when I am living back in North America

Colosseum, again another that I have not seen. Hopefully I will make it to Italy, I really would love to see the country!

Okay on to... TAJ MAHAL... I love this place :) Been here 3 times
This was taken during my time there in 2008
This was taken in 2010 when we took a trip with our friends Peter and Alison

And last but not least the "honorary candidate" Great pyramid of Giza
This was taken in 2011. We arrived in Egypt during the revolution, and so the pyramids were close. This is the closest that we could get to them. Will have to go back one day to properly see them (and Egypt!)

Ok that was fun for me to go through... Now to research the other wonders... Maybe I can find a way to incorporate this into my homework??? I am trying to write a paper on DSM diagnosis... not so much fun when you can be looking at pictures of the wonders of the world...

Off I go to write,

Our world

Wow, where has time gone? Seriously, one month since I last blogged? Time has been going so fast. I can't say that much has changed here, both myself and Brad have been working a lot, and trying to finish up course work etc. I am still subbing at the girls campus in the middle school, and doing full-time course work. Brad is now fully underway with his maters project, and soon will be done.

We have one week of school left and then we take off to Israel for a week. So excited to go there, words cannot express. We show up at an interesting time, Easter. We did not plan it that way, it just so happens to be when we get our spring break here. Anyways, more on that trip to come in a few weeks.

I just wanted to post this picture, mostly because I am OBSESSED with maps. We have a big map of our wall, I find myself staring and getting lost in thought all the time. I quite like this one and think that I need to find a way to get it on my walls

This just makes me happy. I am a little speechless right now as I stare... So I will leave it at that, as I am about to go off daydreaming when I need to be doing work.

Ok, more to come later, and I promise it won't be another month that goes by this time.

Cheers,
Serena
