So living in Kuwait has taught us many things, and made us change the way that we do things. But for now I am going to focus on our shopping habits. For the most part I/we buy whatever is local in the grocery stores and basically stick to what we can find here. We try to eat whatever fruits and veggies are in season and available here. But there are a few things that I like, but can't really find. If we do find something we LOAD up. Like at the beginning of the year we found our favorite oatmeal, we bought 15 bags of it. We just ran out and can no longer find it :(... Since I (Serena) am a vegetarian I need to supplement my diet with other protein rich foods, and basically more nutrient rich foods in general. I like to think of myself as eating healthy, and choosing healthier options. Kuwait on the other hand doesn't always make that easy. There is no typical organic, or whole foods store here that I can shop at, so we are somewhat at the mercy of whatever the regular grocery stores ship in. Both myself and Brad love to eat quinoa, but it is very hard to find here. We can get it, but it extremely expensive. We also enjoy black beans, which we cannot find here in either fresh, canned, or dried form (every other bean is no problem). There are a few other "must haves" that we can't get here like chia seeds, my favorite body lotion, and a couple unique spices. So when we come back to Kuwait from Canada we try to stock up. This summer we brought back a few kgs of both quiona and black beans, spices and lotion. Well we ran out, surprise surprise. Thankfully Brad was taking a group of students to the Netherlands for a class / MUN trip. I nicely wrote up my list, and voila we have everything replenished again including ten boxes of quinoa, and two containers of chia seeds haha I think I will be good for a while... I am one happy cook now :)
Now that I have just said that I realize I have to go make dinner. Which normally I enjoy doing, but since Brad was gone for a week, I have not cooked one thing haha... now I am not really in the mood to cook or do dishes.
Anyways happy to have my cupboards full again :) even if I have to go cook
