So we are back from our African vacation. We had an AMAZING time. Throughout our trip I think that I was on the computer, maybe 5 times, and they were all in internet cafe's so I didn't get a chance to update as I thought that I would. I am going to spend some time going through pictures, and then I will do proper blog updates, but I thoughts I would quickly show the big 5 that we saw on our safari through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara.
The big 5 have been picked because they are the five most difficult animals to hunt on foot and to find... but now since they are protected and not being hunted, the term big 5 has just stuck. They are the African Elephant, Black rhinoceros, Cape buffalo, Lion, and Leopard.

Big fella
Momma and her little one
The Rhino... doing what he does best, and resting
Sorry he is somewhat far away, so the quality is bad, but he is standing up :)
Hello Buffalo!
Okay, hard to see since these pics are small... but this is a Lion family... all just hanging out on the big rock
Here is a bit closer of the Man of the family and one female lion
She is on the prowl... We watched for about 1 hour of her and another female searching out their lunch! Amazing to watch
LEOPARD. Apparently they are very rare to see on the ground. Again we just saw him and took a picture. No time to focus the camera and he was going fast to find a tree.
We found another Leopard... this one in a tree... So crazy to see it.
Okay there is my real quick blog posting... more to come later with more details of the trip.
This week will be crazy. By Wed. I have to write and submit 3 research papers and write two final exams. So with that said, I will be locking myself inside and going to work. Expect more blog postings next weekend :)
Cheers,
Serena
