Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas Family and Friends.

I wanted to send out Christmas cards, but given the lack of a mail system in Kuwait, I gave up that idea. Then I also realized the amount of work that would have to go into it, so again I thought ya right not after doing a bazillion thank-you cards for the wedding, I need a break. So here it is, our official Christmas letter.

We are attempting to be festive in a country where Christmas is not celebrated. We will be having a few different Christmas meals with friends, also going to our church where we will be singing Christmas carols around a camp fire...
I'm wishing that I could be 'home' right now, and missing everyone. But then again, I really don't want to be in any form of COLD... I'll continue to appreciate the heat.
We hope that everyone has a blessed Christmas season...

AGAIN MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM BRAD AND SERENA

It's about time...

Well I just realized now long it's been since I posted last.. sorry about that. For the last week I have been trying to write on the blog, but my internet wouldn't let me. But here I go.

Nothing major or funny to post on, but just a general update! I have not been to the saloon recently so no humorous moments!
Well for the past month we have been busy! At the beginning of November we welcomed our first visitors from Canada, Peter and Alison. It was so fun to have our friends from back home come and visit. They stayed with us for a few days seeing Kuwait, and then the four of us went to India, and then a day layover in Qatar. We had a fabulous two weeks with them. I was also very excited about returning to India, and loved every moment that I had there - certainly not long enough though. More to come on our trip later.
After our vacation we got really busy. I realized that I was falling behind in my university courses, and Brad suddenly had a lot of additional work commitments. So away I went to course work BLAH and Brad was a lots of meetings / conferences. It was good that Brad was not around for a lot of the time so I could 'focus' the down side to it was that I had to 'focus' on my school work. Anyways I think that I am mostly caught up now.

We are also consuming any spare time we have looking for a car to buy. We thought that we would last without having to buy a car... but nope we rely too much on that convenience. Every night we walk around our neighborhood, and well we are sick of it, and would love a car to see more of the city. I also take a taxi to work and back everyday, so it needs to happen! Soon we will find a car and FREEDOM will happen.

Work has been extremely crazy and overwhelming. Good thing I only work 6 hours a day haha. So when I first started at my job teaching pre-kindergarten, I had myself, 2 assistance and 1 nanny and 22 kids. Yup I was set. After two weeks my principal pulled one of the assistants on me, so I only had 1 assistant, but we could manage with that. In this time our school had gone through 4 different secretaries, and well my only assistant was the only one who could replace the secretary, so whenever a secretary didn't show up or quit I would lose my assistant for the day.Well my principal has never been on time for work, her style is to work from 10am -noon, but she recently had a baby, which means she is not around ever, and there is no replacement. So we have no principal, no secretary, and I have gone from 2 assistance, to ZERO! So I am in charge of 22 kids / babies to MYSELF... my nanny tries to help out - she is terrific - but her job is to do all the bathroom runs (which take a long time given that they are little) and to clean up after snack etc. Have I ever mentioned the ages of my kids... they range from 1 year 6 months to 3 years. Yes they are in school, and are required to learn, and sit still ALL day!!!! I think my hair is turning grey just thinking of it all. So hopefully in the next while I will get a new assistant... well maybe I can hope. I have gone week without... lets see what the next week brings....

Updates on Brad... Well he officially get his hair cut every 3 weeks... why do I mention that, because he is getting his hair cut right now... the significance you ask - it cost 1 KD which is $3.50...
He also is starting a book club at school, and really enjoys it... I know who did I marry???? kidding....
He is also in charge of the Model UN at the boys campus. They just finished the big MUN conference in Kuwait, I think they did well... they are hoping to go to Cairo in Feb for a MUN conference.
I don't what else to write for him... I will try to convince him to write on this blog.

Does anyone know how to add pictures to a blog??? I keep trying but I'm not successful. Also do I need to shrink the pictures to add them?

I will write on India soon... but my fingers hurt, I am going cross eyed, and I am hungry.

PS Christmas season has started.... I MISS IT.... we are still at 30degrees here during the day, and this is a Muslin country = no Christmas. a slight moment of saddness..... We are welcoming our second guest from Canada though, Brad's sister Ruth! She will be arriving on the 26th and staying for 2 weeks. This will help it feel a bit more like Christmas :)

ok FOOODDDD... off I go
